Thoughts, observations, scripture and other articles relating to Christianity and the Christian life.

Quick; How did you feel when you read that headline?  Joyful?  Scared?  Indifferent?  Something else?

Obviously he has not returned because when he does the bible says “Every eye will see him” (Revelations 1:7).  But here is my point: our initial reaction, that split second after we receive important information reveals a lot about our true feelings on something.  Now, we shouldn’t rely only on our feelings for information since our heart is deceitful (Jeremiah 17:9), but it can be a good indication of our behavior and weather or not we feel convicted about unaddressed issues in our lives.

If you felt Joyful: This is (usually) a good indication of the status of your salvation.  Chances are your faith is strong and you have little doubt about your salvation.  However, just because you FEEL one way about something doesn’t make it true (check out this absolutely outstanding sermon on truth from  We should always strive to examine ourselves to see that we are in the faith.  Remember, our salvation is secure by saving faith in Christ, but saving faith is Christ is SHOWN by those who strive to hold to His commandments and obey Him (Matthew 7:15-23).

If you felt Scared: Ask yourself why that is.  Are you a believer but you are ashamed of your sin?  Good.  Conviction and shame of sin is a good sign of the Holy Spirit working within you.  “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom” (Psalm 111:10).  Just keep reminding yourself that if you truly believe, you will be saved regardless of any sin you commit.  If you are an unbeliever, thinking of this feeling as a warning would be advisable.  It is NEVER too late and you can NEVER be too sinful for Christ to forgive you.  Jeffery Dahmer one of the most notorious serial killers in American history, is in all likelihood in heaven because before he died, he came to Christ (as shown in the book written by the pastor who attended numerous bible studies states in “Dark Journey, Deep Grace”.  This book is outstanding by the way.  I HIGHLY recommend it.).  If God can forgive a serial killer, rapist, homosexual (and probably a slew of other sins we don’t know about), if you confess Christ as Lord he can forgive you too.

If you felt Indifferent: Why is that?  This to me would worry me more than any of the other reactions, because it shows a lack of acknowledgment of who Christ is, and without that we are NOT SAVED.  I Highly encourage you to pursue him.  Heaven is REAL.  God is REAL.  Jesus is REAL.  Heaven is REAL.  HELL IS REAL!  SEEK HIM!!!

If you felt something else: What was it?  Why do you think you felt that way?

The bottom line is, who we say Jesus is WITH THE WAY WE LIVE OUR LIVES says a whole lot more about who we really think he is than WHAT WE SAY WITH OUR TONGUES.  What do your actions say about how you REALLY feel about Him?
